This was the most radical statement in the entirety of last night's republican debate, yet the media has completely ignored it. Ben Carson said he was previously wrong on calling for subsidies for the oil industry to be shifted to ethanol producers, and said instead he now wants to get rid of ALL government subsidies, which would literally be the most radical government policy change in the last 100 years. "I have concluded, that the best policy is to get rid of all government subsidies and get the government out of our lives and let people rise and fall based on how good they are." This statement is at odds with his recent support for the drug war, which is in essence a government price control scheme to support drug dealers by keeping drugs scarce and prices high. |
