A Gaza ceasefire deal was approved by Israel and Hamas on Wednesday after 15 months of war.

From Reuters, "Gaza ceasefire deal reached between Israel, Hamas; truce to begin Sunday":
Negotiators reached a phased deal on Wednesday to end the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, the U.S. and Qatar said, after 15 months of bloodshed that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and inflamed the Middle East.

The complex accord outlines a six-week initial ceasefire phase and includes the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and release of hostages taken by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

At a news conference in Doha, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said the ceasefire would take effect on Sunday. Negotiators are working with Israel and Hamas on steps implementing the deal, he said.
This is the same deal from May that Trump reportedly "forced" on Netanyahu that will allegedly end the war and leave Hamas in power.

"WE HAVE A DEAL FOR THE HOSTAGES IN THE MIDDLE EAST," Trump announced on TruthSocial. "THEY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY. THANK YOU!"

"This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November, as it signaled to the entire World that my Administration would seek Peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans, and our Allies," Trump said in a follow-up post.

Young Palestinian journalist Abubaker Abed reported that "Gaza's streets are erupting" with celebrations.

Ronen Bergman reported in Israeli media on Tuesday that Trump "has already promised" Benjamin Netanyahu that he will support Israel "retroactively" if they violate the ceasefire with Gaza after signing his peace deal.

At this point, we can only hope that's not true.

Israel could potentially just reinvade Gaza after getting their hostages back but who knows if they'd actually want to.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday that Hamas appears to have already "recruited almost as many new militants as it has lost."

With Gaza in shambles, Syria toppled and Hezbollah seriously weakened, Israel's likely going set their sights on launching a US-led war with Iran.

Hamas hailed the ceasefire deal as major victory in a statement on Wednesday:
"The ceasefire agreement is the fruit of the legendary steadfastness of our great Palestinian people and our valiant resistance in the Gaza Strip, over more than 15 months."

"The agreement to stop the aggression on Gaza is an achievement for our people, our resistance, our nation and the free people of the world, and it is a turning point in the conflict with the enemy, on the path to achieving our people's goals of liberation and return."

"This agreement comes from our responsibility towards our patient people steadfast in the honourable Gaza Strip, to stop the Zionist aggression against them, and put an end to the bloodbath, massacres and war of extermination to which they are being subjected."

"We express our appreciation and thanks for all the honourable official and popular positions that showed solidarity with Gaza, stood with our people, and contributed to exposing the occupation and stopping the aggression, Arab, Islamic and international, and special thanks to the mediating brothers, who made great efforts to reach this agreement, especially Qatar and Egypt."
