President Donald Trump on Wednesday appointed US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell as the acting director of national intelligence, making him the first openly gay person to serve in a cabinet-level position.
As The Jerusalem Post reports, Grenell is known for his "pro-Israel and anti-Iran" stances. "For Israel's security and defense establishment, Grenell's hawkish views towards Iran's regime will be welcomed with open arms," Foundation for Defense of Democracies fellow Benjamin Weinthal said.
Though Grenell officially serves as the US' ambassador to Germany, one might assume by looking at his Twitter feed that he was Israel's ambassador to America.
Grenell also made a name for himself last year by launching a crusade to decriminalize homosexuality worldwide.
