UPDATE: American Quarterly's Brian Winter writes: "One of Venezuela's best journalists reporting that today's action was planned for another day, and had strong military support - but they had to bring it forward because Guaido's arrest was imminent, and then the military backed out."

Pompeo claimed Maduro was ready to flee to Cuba this morning but the Russkies talked him out of it:

Guaido's backers got they exact type of footage they wanted to try and justify foreign intervention:

The White House was on it:

UPDATE: Here's the full footage that's not taken completely out of context showing the "protesters" attacked the vehicle repeatedly and one "protester" even encouraged the driver to try and run him over:

Notice how our media will censor footage such as the Muslim terrorist attack in Nice, France where a refugee ran over and killed 86 people and injured 458 others but they'll show footage of Maduro's forces allegedly running over "protesters" on constant repeat.

It's not just a Muslim thing as they also refused to show footage of the mass shooting at Christchurch mosque in New Zealand where Muslims were the target, whereas they showed footage of the 9/11 attacks on television constantly to get the US clamoring for war in the Middle East.

They did the same with Assad's alleged "gassing" of his own people in Syria to justify US intervention in Syria.

Is Maduro's forces running over what looked like at most one single person and shooting a few people to suppress a violent coup attempt going to be enough to justify US intervention at a time when we're pretty much having mass shootings in America and Muslim truck/car attacks on the regular?

This tweet is just hilarious:

*Original article follows*

Having largely failed to make any progress through democratic means, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido called on members of the Venezuelan military to lead an uprising against President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday morning.

According to Microsoft translate, that tweet reads:
The time is now!

The 24 states of the country have taken the road: Street without return. The future is ours: people and armed Forces united by the cessation of usurpation.

Together we are invincible! #TodaVenezuelaALaCalle
From Reuters:
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido on Tuesday called for a military uprising to oust President Nicolas Maduro and armed factions exchanged gunfire outside a Caracas air base as the country hit a new crisis point after years of political and economic chaos.

Several dozen armed men in military uniform accompanying Guaido clashed with soldiers supporting Maduro at a protest outside the La Carlota air base, Reuters witnesses said, but the incident fizzled out and did not appear to be part of an immediate attempt by the opposition to take power by force.

Guaido, in a video posted on Twitter earlier on Tuesday, said he had begun the “final phase” of his campaign to topple Maduro, calling on Venezuelans and the military to back him.

Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino called the latest instability a “coup movement” but several hours after Guaido’s announcement there was no sign of any other military activity and there were no immediate reports of casualties. Guaido later left a rally he was holding with military supporters at the air base.
Maduro sent this tweet out at 10:07 AM EST:

According to Microsoft translate, his tweet reads:
Nerves of Steel! I have spoken with the commanders of all the REDIs and ZODI of the country, who have expressed their total loyalty to the people, to the Constitution and to the fatherland. I call for maximum popular mobilization to ensure the victory of peace. Venceremos!
Here's some videos from Ruptly:

Here's Global News' live stream video on the ground:

Here's RT's:

Here's channel VPltv, which is banned in Venezuela and is no doubt working to support the coup:

I would strongly recommend being extremely skeptical of any videos you see on social media as the disinformation campaign is going to go into overdrive.

This video was shared from two different angles so it appears to be legit, though it's not clear which side is which:

The Democratic and Republican establishment have thrown their full support behind this coup attempt:

Remember, these are the same clowns who whine incessantly about Russia "meddling" in our election by sharing memes on social media.

Seeing as how Guaido seems to have failed to get any traction over the past year, telling sympathetic soldiers to stage a violent rebellion today seems to be encouraging them to throw their lives away for nothing, which is the exact type of "leader" Guaido comes across as.

Odds are Guaido is hoping Maduro's forces will carry out a massacre in order to give the US a pretext to stage an invasion.
