Trump Pulls Stefanik Nomination for U.N. Ambassador Over Fear GOP House Majority Could Evaporate

President Trump pulled Elise Stefanik's nomination for United Nations ambassador on Friday over fears the GOP's "slim margin" in the House could narrow even further with Randy Fine potentially losing an unlosable seat in Florida's special election on Tuesday.

"We cannot take a chance," Trump told reporters when asked about pulling her nomination. "We have a slim margin."

"Stefanik was crushed and scrambled to reverse Trump's decision before he announced it on Truth Social, according to people familiar with the matter," Axios reported on Friday. "But for Trump, the margins were too close for comfort."

From Newsweek:
The best the Democratic Party can hope for [now that Stefanik's nomination has been pulled] is winning the four remaining special elections. This would leave the GOP in control of the lower chamber with a 218-217 majority, meaning they would not be able to afford any Republican defection on bills going forward.

It is more likely the GOP candidates will win the two special elections in Florida, with Democrats retaining the seats in Arizona and Texas. This would give the GOP a 220-215 majority in the House, giving their majority more breathing room.
How funny would it be if Thomas Massie -- who Trump just said he wants to primary -- became the most powerful man in the House by being the one vote needed for Republicans to get anything passed?

As I reported on Thursday, Trump-endorsed ultra-Zionist Randy Fine is dramatically "underperforming" in his race against Josh Weil.

A poll by St. Pete Polls for Florida Politics found Fine was only leading Weil 48.3% to 44.2% -- which was within the 5 point margin of error -- despite Trump carrying Florida's 6th Congressional District by 30 points.

"An internal Republican poll from March has Weil leading Fine 44% to 41%, according to a source familiar with the race, with 10% undecided," GZERO Media reported Friday. "The poll was conducted by Fabrizio Ward, the same firm that worked for Trump's campaign, and isn't yet public. The February iteration of this poll found Weil trailing Fine by 12 points."

Fine losing would be truly hilarious and his underperformance is already paying dividends with Stefanik being denied her dream job of UN Ambassador.

Stefanik has been working together with the Anti-Defamation League (along with the Trump administration) to take away Americans' free speech rights in the name of "combating antisemitism."

Instead of Stefanik cashing in by becoming the next Nikki Haley it's looking like she's going to go back to irrelevance as just another GOP "Yes Man" in the House.
