President-elect Donald Trump on Monday picked New York Rep Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, touting his service as co-chairman of the House Republican Israel Caucus and his advocacy on "combating antisemitism" as well as "environmental issues." "[Zeldin] will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will be enacted in a way to unleash the power of American businesses, while at the same time maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet," Trump said in a statement announcing the appointment on Truth Social. "He will set new standards on environmental review and maintenance, that will allow the United States to grow in a healthy and well-structured way." "During his eight years in Congress, Zeldin served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Financial Services Committee," Trump's statement continued. "As one of two Jewish Republicans in Congress, he co-chaired the House Republican Israel Caucus, which had over 100 members. He was a vocal advocate on foreign policy, border security, military affairs, combating antisemitism, environmental issues, energy policy, and much more." Zeldin ran for Governor in New York in 2022 and soundly lost to Kathy Hochul. Follow InformationLiberation on Twitter, Facebook, Gab, Minds and Telegram. |
