President-elect Donald Trump has announced he's appointing former ICE Director Tom Homan as "Border Czar" and Stephen Miller as Deputy Chief of Policy.
From AP, "Trump announces Tom Homan, former director of immigration enforcement, will serve as 'border czar'": In an interview on Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures," Homan said the military would not be rounding up and arresting immigrants in the country illegally and that ICE would move to implement Trump's plans in a "humane manner." Earlier this year at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington, Homan expressed frustration at the news coverage of a mass deportation operation. The majority of Americans support mass deportations and Trump has a mandate to see it through. Hopefully, Homan is actually allowed to do his job and Trump won't cave on "family separation" like he did last time. From AP, "Trump names Stephen Miller to be deputy chief of policy in new administration": President-elect Donald Trump is naming longtime adviser Stephen Miller, an immigration hard-liner, to be the deputy chief of policy in his new administration.Miller's group has been a mix of pro-Israel and pro-America activism but during his time in the White House he wasn't able to accomplish much as Jared Kushner was running the show.
