Michael Wolff, an author with serious credibility issues and a history of making up fake quotes, just released some horrible quality audio clips allegedly of Jeffrey Epstein claiming in 2017 that Donald Trump used to be his "closest friend." In Wolff's story about it for The Daily Beast, he admits near the end of the piece that the tapes were edited due to what he calls a "myriad" of "technical difficulties" with his "bad recordings." "The Fire and Fury podcast has partnered with the Daily Beast, which has helped with the myriad technical difficulties of bad recordings (my fault here), to publish, in Epstein's own words, some of the highlights of his experiences with and observations about what I think can be fairly described as his fellow predator," The Daily Beast says. The tapes are indeed terrible quality and of questionable value considering they were recorded in 2017 after Trump had already become president. The tapes were also recorded nearly a decade after Epstein himself had been jailed for soliciting a minor. There's nothing particularly newsworthy or damning about the clips, which is no doubt why Wolff waited until two days out from the election to release them. Only the timing of their release and the desperation to "get Trump" is what makes the story worthy of reporting at all. He's also using the tapes to promote his new podcast with The Daily Beast. The article says at the bottom, "Editor's note: The Daily Beast's Chief Content Officer Joanna Coles holds an investment in Kaleidoscope, the maker of the Fire and Fury podcast."
From The Daily Beast, "Listen To The Jeffrey Epstein Tapes: 'I Was Donald Trump's Closest Friend'": Epstein painted a complicated portrait of Trump. He called him “charming,” and “always fun,” capable of extraordinary salesmanship, and suggested he was personally in favor of Trump’s policies on “the transgender stuff.” But he alleged Trump was a serial cheat in his marriages and loved to “f--- the wives of his best friends.”Did he say he was his closest friend to give credibility to his claim Trump had scalp reduction surgery? It seems like that was the case but who knows, he doesn't give any context and the actual tape just cuts right in to the middle of the conversation. The content of the tapes is extremely weak and the timing of the release makes it abundantly clear it's just a political hit job. That said, what I find most interesting about this story is that Trump felt it was appropriate to let Wolff into the White House and give him exclusive access to all manners of internal discussions in the West Wing just because he wrote a few "fair and balanced" pieces for the Hollywood Reporter.
Trump's surrounding himself with terrible people was the story of his first term and it's looking like his second term is not going to be any better. The most interesting piece of content Wolff put out was when he himself kvetched that Trump is "aware of who is Jewish" in a way that "feels creepy." If he is aware, it's only so he knows whose butt to kiss for his own personal advancement. Follow InformationLiberation on Twitter, Facebook, Gab, Minds and Telegram. |
