Former President Donald Trump on Thursday said that if Iran were to assassinate him then he "hopes" that America "wipes it off the face of the Earth."

"If they do 'assassinate President Trump,' which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the Earth -- If that does not happen, American Leaders will be considered 'gutless' cowards!" Trump said on Truth Social.

His post featured a clip from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech yesterday to Congress saying, "As we recently learned, [Iran] even brazenly threatened to assassinate President Trump."

While in office, Trump assassinated Iranian General Qasem Soleimani after Israel fed him highly questionable intelligence painting Soleimani as an "immediate threat."

Though no evidence was ever produced indicating Soleimani was an "immediate threat," Trump later said it "doesn't matter" if Soleimani was planning an "imminent" attack or not "because of his horrible past."

Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the time insisted there was "no doubt" Soleimani was planning "a series of imminent attacks" but he just didn't know "when" or "where."

CNN reported last week that "a human source" provided intelligence to the US in recent weeks "on a plot by Iran to try to assassinate Donald Trump."
The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations denied there is an Iranian plot to assassinate Trump.

“These accusations are unsubstantiated and malicious. From the perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Trump is a criminal who must be prosecuted and punished in a court of law for ordering the assassination of General Soleimani. Iran has chosen the legal path to bring him to justice,” a spokesperson for the mission told CNN, referencing Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Iranian military’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who was killed by a US airstrike at Baghdad International Airport in January 2020.
Iran responded by launching largely symbolic strikes on two US bases in Iraq which killed no one.
