Right-wing Alternative for Germany co-leader Tino Chrupalla, whose party recently surged in the polls to second place, was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after allegedly being stabbed with a syringe at a campaign event.

The AP is only reporting there was a "violent incident" but German outlet Junge Freiheit is covering the allegation it was an attack.

From JF Online, "Attack with a syringe? AfD confirms physical attack on Chrupalla" (as translated by Google):
INGOLSTADT. There was apparently an attack on AfD leader Tino Chrupalla at an AfD election campaign event in Ingolstadt. According to JF information, he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with blue lights flashing. A police spokesman confirmed to JUNGE FREIHEIT that an operation was currently underway on site. A party spokesman told the JF: "At an AfD election campaign event in Ingolstadt today there was an physical incident against our party's federal spokesman, Tino Chrupalla. He was therefore taken to a hospital, where his health condition is currently being clarified."

According to the Donaukurier, there was a counter-demonstration within sight and hearing range, which is supported by the CSU, the Left Party and the SPD, among others. The AfD's top candidate for the state election, Katrin Ebner-Steiner, confirmed an attack. However, she couldn't say what exactly happened. Apparently, Ebner-Steiner told the JF, a syringe was found.

The Austrian journalist Gerald Grosz, who was invited to speak, also confirmed the attack to the JF: When Chrupalla felt sick, he pointed to two young men who are now being interrogated by the police. Grosz spoke of an "anaphylactic shock". He also spoke of a needle being found. According to other eyewitnesses, two people were arrested by the police, who are said to be the suspected attackers.

The German outlet Reitschuster is reporting that Chrupalla is "unresponsive" and his condition is "serious."

From Reitschuster, "Unresponsive: 'Chrupalla's condition is serious' " (as translated by Google):
"The situation is more serious than expected. Tino Chrupalla is still in the hospital and unresponsive. Someone really did prick him and inject something!" Peter Bystron, AfD member of the Bundestag, said this to reitschuster.de in the evening about the condition of the AfD leader after the alleged attack on him in Ingolstadt.

"His condition is serious," AfD member of the Bundestag Thomas Dietz, who comes from the same Saxon regional association as Chrupalla, confirmed to me.

I spoke to two eyewitnesses who made it clear what happened. I'm publishing a video here with more details and will also add to this text here. I just have to ask for your patience.

Two young men asked the party leader for a selfie with them on the sidelines of an election campaign event in Ingolstadt. Shortly afterwards, Chrupalla was on the ground. The police temporarily arrested the two men and searched them down to their underwear, according to eyewitnesses. Both were then released.

A party insider tells me: "At the moment the BKA is not providing any information. It was probably an injection in the upper arm with an as yet unknown substance, causing anaphylatic shock. Only those closest to him noticed when he felt sick. He was then immediately supported."

Also shocking: there is nothing about the matter on the homepage of Germany's largest newspaper, "Bild". There are reports on the portal, but they are not visible on the crucial homepage and therefore only have an alibi function. This is a gross betrayal of journalistic principles.

Meanwhile, other media such as "Spiegel" are trying to ridicule the threat to Alice Weidel and give the impression that she is on a feel-good vacation in Mallorca, while in Germany she explains that she is in a safe place due to a dangerous situation. I asked Weidel's spokesman about this.

Here is his information: "On Saturday, September 23rd. Alice Weidel's family is taken from their apartment in the Einsiedeln district to a safe place under police protection and remains there until the next day.
Chrupalla made headlines last week after he revealed his bank account was closed over his political views.

AfD's other co-leader Alice Weidel was recently placed under police protection due to credible threats against her life and AfD politician Andreas Jurca was "beaten to a pulp" in an organized attack by a gang of migrants who recognized him.

The AfD party has been viciously demonized by the media who present them as the second coming of Hitler and the Nazis and the German government recently threatened to ban the party outright despite their surging popularity in order to "defend democracy."
