UPDATE: Rep Bowman changed his story later in the day on Saturday, claiming he pulled the fire alarm because he thought it would open a locked exit door.

Bowman said he didn’t realize pulling the alarm would trigger an evacuation. He thought it would open the locked door he was trying to use to exit the building.

“The door that’s usually open wasn’t,” he said.

Unhinged Democratic Rep Jamaal Bowman was caught on video Saturday pulling a fire alarm to allegedly interfere in an official proceeding of Congress and try and prevent Republicans from passing a bill to avoid a government shutdown.

"Rep. Bowman clearly violated numerous laws including 1512(c)(2) obstruction of an official proceeding," Julie Kelly reports. "At least 320 Jan 6 defendants including Donald Trump have been charged with this felony count."

From NBC News, "Rep. Bowman under investigation for pulling fire alarm as McCarthy compares it to Jan. 6":

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy called for Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., to be punished after he pulled a fire alarm in a Capitol office building on Saturday, comparing it to the Jan 6 rioters who attacked the building.

"When you think about how other people were treated when they come in and wanted to change the course of what was happening in the building," McCarthy said.

McCarthy went on to say that the Ethics Committee should take the pulled fire alarm "seriously."

"This should not go without punishment," McCarthy said. "I'm gonna have a discussion with the Democratic leader about it. But this should not go without punishment. This is an embarrassment."

Bowman's office admitted he pulled the fire alarm but said he didn't realize it would trigger an alarm.

"Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote," a spokesperson told the media. "The Congressman regrets any confusion."

How many J6ers were let off with an apology? Most of them walked into the building while flanked by police who did nothing to stop them.

Bowman has shown himself repeatedly to be an unhinged lunatic and this is perhaps his most deranged act yet.

He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
