Pro-immigration activist Max Lefeld, a founding member of the Casa Venezuela Dallas foundation that helps Venezuelan migrants move to the US, told NBC News that Governor Ron DeSantis sending Venezuelan migrants to Martha's Vineyard is akin to him dumping "trash" all around town.

"Florida Gov. DeSantis sending asylum-seekers to Martha's Vineyard is like 'me taking my trash out and just driving to different areas where I live and just throwing my trash there,' a founding member of a foundation which helps refugees says," NBC News reported Friday, quoting Lefeld.

NBC News deleted the tweet after getting backlash for comparing migrants to "trash" but Lefeld's quote is still up in their article.

Lefeld's foundation is dedicated to resettling Venezuelan "migrants" and "refugees" -- who he apparently views as "trash" -- into the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.

He says on his foundation's website that their mission is "to foster and mentor recently arrived distressed and displaced Venezuelan diaspora to successfully integrate into the DFW community."

Lefeld's foundation is asking for donations to help relocate the "more than 5.9 million people" who have had to flee Venezuela due to "a combination of violence, insecurity and a lack of food, medicine and other services."
