New York City Councilman Mark Levine (D-NY) last month praised the "huge crowds" that gathered in Chinatown on Feb 9 in "defiance" of the "coronavirus scare" for a Lunar New Year parade.

"In powerful show of defiance of #coronavirus scare, huge crowds gathering in NYC's Chinatown for ceremony ahead of annual #LunarNewYear parade. Chants of 'be strong Wuhan!'" Levine tweeted. "If you are staying away, you are missing out!"

Senator Chuck Schumer also took part in the march celebrating The Year of the Rat:

New York City Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot also urged everyone to "enjoy the parade and not change any plans due to misinformation spreading about #coronavirus."

Other countries canceled their parades but this one was allowed presumably to defy "anti-Chinese racism."

Barrons reported today that New York City has become the "hardest hit area" in the United States "with more than 10,000 cases and 99 deaths."

Though the city is now facing a Wuhan-style total lockdown and their economy is collapsing, on the bright side no one can accuse them of "racism"!

UPDATE: Levine is now claiming he thinks he has the coronavirus (but is not going to get tested):
