The NRA's chief executive Wayne LaPierre, the one and only establishment conservative worth his salt, appears to have just successfully stopped a diabolical coup attempt led by neocon turncoat Oliver North. From The Washington Post, "NRA ousts president Oliver North after alleged extortion scheme against chief executive": National Rifle Association President Oliver North has been ousted after an alleged extortion scheme within the group's highest-ranking officials came to light on Friday. In a statement, North told the organization he was "informed" he would not be nominated for reelection. North's term ends Monday.LaPierre laid out the extortion threat against him in a short letter leaked to the Wall Street Journal. The key lines are where he says North threatened that one of their vendors, ad agency Ackerman McQueen, was going to release an "allegedly damaging letter to the entire NRA board" but wouldn't do so if he were to "promptly resign." LaPierre wrote: "I believe the purpose of the letter was to humiliate me, discredit our Association, and raise appearances of impropriety that hurt our members and the Second Amendment. The letter would contain a devastating account for our financial status, sexual harassment charges against a staff member, accusations of wardrobe expenses and excessive staff travel expenses. But then, Col. North explained the letter would not be sent -- if I were to promptly resign as your Executive Vice President. And, if I supported Col. North's continued tenure as president, he stated he could 'negotiate' an 'excellent retirement' for me." The rumors are that North wanted the group to back off lobbying and media and instead focus on "gun safety" advocacy -- which is so stupid it's hard to imagine his goal was anything other than destroying the organization entirely. The NRA, despite any of their faults, has been the most effective lobbyist group in all of Conservatism, Inc. We've lost all our freedoms as Americans over the past 40 years with the sole exception of the right to own guns. The NRA has been fending off lawfare attempts to shut them down for years. Most recently, the NRA was targeted for destruction by the state of New York and Gov. Andrew Cuomo. As LaPierre said at CPAC 2019: New York Governor Andrew Cuomo hates the NRA. He hates the freedoms for which we stand. And he’s not shy about saying so. If you agree with our positions, the governor of New York says you have “no place”--that’s a direct quote--”no place” in his state. No matter how much he’d like to, New York’s governor can’t just expel gun owners from the state. He can’t just ban the NRA. That would overtly violate the Constitution.WATCH: The lawfare is continuing to this very day and it appears other hostile groups are working to sabotage them from within.
