Tuesday morning on MSNBC's Morning Joe, co-host John Heilemann questioned whether House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes was a "Russian agent."

The Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee voted Monday to release Devin Nunes' classified memo which purportedly shows the FBI/DOJ abused their authority to spy on the Trump campaign.

"I want to ask you a question that under almost any other circumstances would be ridiculous and absurd but under these circumstances I think is actually warranted," Heilemann said to Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy.

"Is it possible that the Republican chairman of the House Intel Committee has been compromised by the Russians?" he asked. "Is it possible that they actually have a Russian agent running the House Intel Committee on the Republican side?"

Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, visibly taken aback, responded: "I hope that's not the case, I certainly have no information to suggest that it is."

"Doesn't his behavior speak of that though?" Heilemann said. "I mean I'm not the first person who's raised this, he's behaving like someone who's been compromised and there are people in the intelligence community and others with great expertise in this area who look at him and say: that guy's been compromised."

"Well, I don't have that expertise," Sen. Chris Murphy said. "What I also know is that there are plenty of Republicans who simply instinctually act in a way to protect their president and his actions would would certainly comport with that motivation I don't necessarily know that there's another explanation."

This begs the question: is Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy a Russian agent?

Posing as a Democratic Russophobe is the perfect cover.

After all, who could possibly question all the "people in the intelligence community and others with great expertise" who Heilemann says are absolutely certain House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes is a Russian agent?!
