After more than a year of silence, AL QAEDA man, OSAMA BIN LADEN resurfaces once again threatening the United States with more attacks, yet offering truce. But bin Laden's re-emergence, after a 13-month silence that raised questions about whether he is still alive or not is a jolt, said an article on Time Online. Experts in Washington said that the latest tape by AL QAEDA Chief, aired last week on an Arab Satellite channel was recorded sometime since November, partly because of a his reference to British newspaper reports from that that mentioned at that time the AMERICAN PRESIDENT's intentions to bomb the Qatari TV channel. "They are in the planning stages, and you will see them in the heart of your land as soon as the planning is complete," BIN LADEN said in his most recent tape, yet floated the idea of ending hostilities with America if it agreed to withdraw its occupying troops from IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN. "We do not mind offering a long-term truce based on just conditions that we will stick to," BIN LADEN said. The White House didn't bite. "We do not negotiate with terrorists," spokesman Scott McClellan said. "We put them out of business." For George Kassimeris, senior research fellow in conflict and terrorism at Wolverhampton University, the response to the message fulfilled bin Laden's aims: "He wanted to show his followers he still calls the shots. What happened? He was front-page news. The U.S. immediately replied to him, and the media around the U.S. began reporting increased security as a result of his threats. "The fact that he had been silent for a year increased the impact - if he spoke out too often, it would be less dramatic. BIN LADEN is no longer in operational control of AL QAEDA, but he doesn't want to be. He sees himself as an ideological focus, not as a strategist or commander." Unlike what many would think, Bin Laden’s reappearance, chirping away about new attacks on American soil, is not in any way harming MR. BUSH, a Chicago Tribune editorial said. The latest tape came as an annoying reminder for the Americans, a fake reminder we must say, that today, more than four years after September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers; AL QAEDA ’s man, who’s accused of masterminding the attacks is “still mooning from his mountain hideout,” the editorial added. Some may see this as humiliating to the might power the U.S. enjoys. But if you think of it this way; every time BIN LADEN surfaces with a new tape, the Americans are reminded of the sad memory, which their President used as a justification for his bloody wars in IRAQ then AFGHANISTAN. BIN LADEN reminds them how much they loathe AL QAEDA, distracting their attention from the repetitive failures and lies of their President. BUSH is facing increasing difficulty in selling his lies to the Americans, and “he can't sell his policies on their merits, he can pitch them as the opposite of what the enemy wants.” With all analysts’ suggestion that BIN LADEN might be hiding in Pakistan, or could have escaped by boat to Yemen or Saudi Arabia, "his safety seems best assured by staying in an area where neither American nor Pakistani troops dare ventur," according to The Independant. Even if BIN LADEN was captured, at this stage his arrest will have a little impact, for he has already achieved what he is needed for, creating a living enemy for the Americans for MR. BUSH to hunt everywhere he deems necessary. |
