Former South African leader Nelson Mandela should rule the world – with Bill Clinton as his deputy! That’s what respondents said when a BBC Online survey asked them who they would most like to be in charge of the planet. The obviously liberal-minded respondents not only chose Clinton as No. 2, they selected Democratic financier and Bush-basher George Soros as No. 10. More than 15,000 people each cast nine votes. Mandela received 8,000 votes and Clinton got 7,500. President Bush placed 43rd among the 100 contenders. The top 10: 1. Nelson Mandela 2. Bill Clinton 3. Dalai Lama 4. Noam Chomsky 5. Alan Greenspan 6. Bill Gates 7. Steve Jobs 8. Desmond Tutu 9. Richard Branson 10. George Soros |
