Is Obama About to Start A War With Iran?

The Obama administration, fresh off being reelected and no longer needing any sort of public support, appears to be following a Bush script for war with Iran. The Pentagon is claiming Iran shot at one of their unmanned drones, supposedly in international waters off the coast of Iran, though the missiles allegedly fired at the UAV missed, so there is no actual evidence this took place. The story is quite similar to a leaked Bush administration plan to lure Saddam into war with the U.S. by flying a UAV painted with UN colors in their airspace enticing them to shoot at it as a pretext for war with Iraq.

Bush 'plotted to lure Saddam into war with fake UN plane'
George Bush considered provoking a war with Saddam Hussein's regime by flying a United States spyplane over Iraq bearing UN colours, enticing the Iraqis to take a shot at it, according to a leaked memo of a meeting between the US President and Tony Blair.

The two leaders were worried by the lack of hard evidence that Saddam Hussein had broken UN resolutions, though privately they were convinced that he had. According to the memorandum, Mr Bush said: "The US was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours. If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach."
Iran fired at unarmed US drone, Pentagon says
Iran fired on an unarmed U.S. drone last week as it was hovering in international airspace, the Pentagon announced Thursday.

Spokesman George Little said the incident, which marks the first time the Iranians have fired on a U.S. drone, occurred Nov. 1 at 4:50 a.m. ET. He said the unarmed, unmanned drone was conducting "routine surveillance" over the Persian Gulf when it was "intercepted" by Iran. He said the MQ1 Predator drone, which was not hit, was not in Iranian airspace.

[InfoLib Note: The Iranians claimed to have shot a US drone down before, they featured it all over TV, this is not the "first time," the US claimed the drone crashed, a claim which was no more verified than Iran's claim to have shot it down.]

According to Little, two Iranian jets fired twice, missing on both attempts -- the drone headed away from the Iranian coast, landing safely soon after at an undisclosed location. The Iranian jets pursued the drone for a short period before giving up.

Little said the U.S. government has protested to the Iranians. Asked about how the U.S. could respond, he said: "We have a wide range of options from diplomatic to military."

He would not say whether there were actually plans for a military response. Asked if this should be considered an act of war, Little said he didn't want to get into "legal characterizations" of the event.
Now that Obama has been reelected, he doesn't have to do anything to court support from the public, so this warmongering is especially dangerous. While this is an extremely flimsy pretext to start a war with Iran, this story is currently the number one story on FoxNews.com and it's getting a lot of coverage on TV. Also, the similarities to the Bush administration's attempt to have one of their drones shot down to start a war with Iraq are striking, if the drone had been blown up this story could be quite different. There was widespread speculation Obama and Israel were waiting for his reelection to be over before launching another war on Iran, it's only been two days since his reelection and the war drums have already begun.
