In this video just posted to YouTube by Benn Jordan, he tells the story of "Andy's Candyland," a youth recreational center which was operating without proper permitting in Bridgeport, Chicago in 2012. The center was shut down and their operating funds were stolen by Chicago police officers after Andy, the center's owner, made the "controversial" decision to hold a meeting with local "mourning" gang-members reeling from a gang-related double homicide to discuss leaving the thug life. Judge for yourself if you think the story is legit. Jordan says he sat on the video for the past three years because it was just hear-say and he didn't want to put himself and his community which he calls a "delicate ecosystem" in any jeopardy. Regardless of the merits of the story, it's an interesting tale and there's good footage of Chicago police ordering Jordan not to film (note, the legality of filming police in Illinois was questionable at the time, one man was facing 75 years in prison for filming cops) and just generally acting like thugs. |
