What are the odds a man who was searched twice without any weapon being found, handcuffed with his hands behind his back, was able to grab a mysteriously hidden gun and shoot himself in the right temple? According to the Jonesboro Police police, that's what happened to 21-year-old Chavis Carter, who was arrested with a small amount of marijuana. According to Chavis's mother, Teresa Carter, Chavis talked to his girlfriend after being pulled over to say he'd call her from jail, WREG reports. “I think they killed him, my son wasn’t suicidal.”, she said.

That is ridiculous. They did not kill him. Parents don't always know their kids as well as they'd like to think. I'm a libertarian but sometimes you gotta stop thinking everything is a game of Clue. It is entirely possible and probable that the gun was not found on the initial pat down. It can happen! Cops are human too. They make mistakes. Especially when you look at the facts. The guy was patted down and placed in the car. Then the officer got him out again to search him thuroughly. The guy probably stashed the gun in the back seat after the pat down and before the second search. It's very sad for the family but the cops did not kill him

I completely disagree with the above poster. The cops could have killed him on purpose for any given reason that we don't know about - maybe he insulted them, maybe it was a racial thing, who knows? Cops killing innocent people is just as probable (and possiby likely) as cops missing a gun in a search. But if you read the article - he said he would call his gf from jail...the cops "cant rule out that he was murdered in a locked cop car..." that's completely ridiculous! You mean to tell me someone could have snuck up on this guy in a locked car (or unlocked cop car) shot him in the head point blank - and no one saw anything? Come on. This smells funny. Where there's smoke, there's fire. I don't know all the facts (and who does except those who were there), but it just doesn't add up.

ROFL! Legalized murder plain and simple. There's a reason the right to bear arms was retained in the Constitution. It's to protect the citizen agains UNFRIENDLY MILITIA. And it looks like that's exactly where we're heading.

Position your own hands behind your back as though handcuffed and then with your off hand try to get even close to the temple of your head. How absolutely stupid do these clowns think we are.

It is easy for a person to get their hands from behind their back to under their feet and back in front of themselves. Unless your obese or injured.

Try it and don't rush to judgement about what you have not sufficient evidence to support your bias. The ballistic information will show what gun the bullet came from. If it's a drop weapon it would require the two officers to conspire to murder a stranger. (insufficient motive) Aren't there any other witnesses?

I've been arrested.. You don't hide a pistol on your person, get searched once(NEVERMIND TWICE) and the cops DON'T FIND THE GUN!! I know FIRST HAND that being in the back of a cop car is TIGHT. It's not like being in mommys minivan!! It's TIGHT in a cop car FOR A REASON!! not only are the CUFFS to keep you from doing ANYTHING YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO but.. The back of the cop car acts as a restraint ALSO!
What I'm saying is...searched(TWICE!), cuffed, STUFFED in a CRUISER, shooting self in the temple(OR ANYWHERE IN THE HEAD) = Highly unlikely!!

Well.... For some... MAYBE. Let's see you do that when you're in the back of a CRUISER... while under the watchful eye of BIG Brother BLUE!!!
I tried it. They pulled over, pulled me out AND BEAT ME. Oh ya... The also lied and said I sustained my bruises while I was resisting arrest!!
But no... Honest bunch, the cops are. GTFOOH!!

THIS WAS MURDER!!!

It seems the police aren't even trying to hide their evil anymore. In the past they would have shot the kid outside the vehicle then placed a "drop gun" in his hand.
If I were a betting man I'd bet the pigs get off with a slap on the wrist...Probably a couple months of paid "administrative leave".

They either shot him or the kid was a freaking magician.

This was a race based thing....Look at the facts from the cops themselves...He was searched, cuffed behind the back, and placed in the car. How are you gonna shoot yourself in the head anyways while cuffed behind the back, and why'd he call his girlfriend telling her he'd be calling from the jail...Cop was white dude was colored...This is obviously a hate crime. But hey I'm not the one responsible to judge, let the creator decide.
