Bill Would Allow 18-Year-Olds to Drink in N.H.

A Seabrook state representative is seeking to allow limited underage drinking in New Hampshire under the supervision of an adult who is at least 22 years old.

Max Abramson, R-Seabrook, filed House Bill 1606, which would allow 18- to 20-year-olds to drink anywhere as long as they were accompanied by someone older than 21. He said the bill would help prevent underage kids from drinking irresponsibly and could reduce teen alcoholism. He said in Europe, where drinking ages are lower, teenage alcoholism is less prevalent than in the United States.
