The Duluth School Board voted Tuesday to give the school district the authority to use eminent domain to obtain a property. The measure passed 4-3, with members Art Johnston, Gary Glass and Tom Kasper voting no. The property is owned by Scott Kuiti, whose attorney, Charles Andresen, spoke during the public comment period of the meeting saying Kuiti wasn’t viewing the prospect of eminent domain as a threat. “We have worked in good faith and will continue to work in good faith,” he said, noting Kuiti understands that the possibility of eminent domain has nothing to do with the June incident where the school district prematurely bulldozed land Kuiti had not yet given permission to bulldoze.
