Breaking Down the Lies and Propaganda in Obama's Speech to our Children

Chris | InformationLiberation

You can read the full text here. I could analyze the deception in every line but for the sake of simplicity I will just comment on the underlying propaganda and the most egregious statements. For the record I am not republican and this site was virulently anti-Bush for years. We are human beings first and we are against tyranny and government oppression. We are not communists or socialists or any other "ist." We are human beings who are against subjugation. We want to see people free.

To begin, the entire speech is complete and utter tripe. Scripted phony jokes, fake emotional draws, government replacing the role of the parents, "stay in school or you're a failure propaganda" etc... This is hypnotism.

His team of script writers is running through your thoughts and guiding them to a conclusion they want for you. "You feel X (this is called "pacing"), I understand you (building rapport) do what I say or else something bad will happen." (this is called "leading" aka. ordering you what to do)

That is the basic format of all hypnosis, and in turn, all propaganda. They make you feel they understand you and then they guide your thoughts to whatever they want you to do, and if you don't they put a threat in. I would suggest you read the entire text of the speech with this in mind.

Here is some simple analysis:
"If you quit on school – you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country."
Translation: If you quit school you're a worthless failure and a let down to your entire country.

In actuality, leaving the socialist government schools and getting home schooled is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, your country, and your future. But I guess that means I hate learning and am a very bad person.
"the circumstances of your life – what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on at home – that’s no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That’s no excuse for not trying."
Actually it is not just an excuse for all of those things, IT IS THE CAUSE. How the hell is a person supposed to focus when their family life is hell and they are living in squalor? You can't, and he is just blaming the victim and guilt-mongering.
"Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future. "
ACTUALLY, that is the EXACT purpose of the government run public school system. And I quote:
the Rockefeller Education Board—which funded the creation of numerous public schools—issued a statement which read in part:
"In our dreams...people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hands. The present educational conventions [intellectual and character education] fade from our minds, and unhampered by tradition we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or men of science. We have not to raise up from among them authors, educators, poets or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians, nor lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we have ample supply. The task we set before ourselves is very simple...we will organize children...and teach them to do in a perfect way the things their fathers and mothers are doing in an imperfect way. "
At the same time, William Torrey Harris, US Commissioner of Education from 1889 to 1906, wrote:
"Ninety-nine [students] out of a hundred are automata, careful to walk in prescribed paths, careful to follow the prescribed custom. This is not an accident but the result of substantial education, which, scientifically defined, is the subsumption of the individual".
...Are you starting to get the picture?
"And even when you’re struggling, even when you’re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you – don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country."
Oh, so serving your country is the highest and most noble goal we should all work for? I thought life was about actually living... How quaint.
"The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best. "
Actually the story of America is people fleeing their home country to escape from authoritarian rulers like yourself.
"So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?"
Translation: You're f***ing worthless as you are, you've accomplished nothing and solved nothing. Your purpose in life is to advance the society and you as an individual simply living your life count for nothing.
"Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions."
Notice how he tries to associate himself with your family. Again when applied to the President it is the complete opposite of the truth, to quote GWB:
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we, "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
Continued:
"I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn. But you’ve got to do your part too. So I expect you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it."
Translation: We have dug a massive hole for you which we are working hard to expand and make sure you can never ever escape, it is your responsibility to get us out of it. The world is on your shoulders, if you let us down you are a failure and we will be ashamed of you.
"Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America."
Translation: F you, God damn you, and God damn America.

To think this is the sanitized version. - Chris, IL

67234 When record numbers of children are being home schooled (a roughly 75% increase from 1999 to present day), you can expect the establishment to launch a propaganda offensive in response. What better way to do that than through the President speaking to classrooms across the country? It re-enforces the bureaucratic vigor among the school staff and reminds the students of the importance of the "great schooling institution" over their lives.

The weapons of mass instruction are losing their power over educated (not schooled) young minds all across the country. If you have a child in public school, use this Obama speech as a truly educational case study in propaganda.

Agreed. I just feel bad for the people who sent their kids in with gusto to be subject to this nonsense. It is such masterful propaganda to a certain extent in that they have turned people into total fanatics in defense of it.

66151 It's nice to see this analysis!

I live in the (American) west and am surrounded by "Independents" who not only voted for Obama but continue to support him. I don't understand this at all when we are seeing an unprecidented power grab by the Executive. This school speech alone should scare the sh!t out of a true Independent!

As a Republican (pondering my affiliation) I support a certain amount of Federalism but we have long passed that line in the sand.

It saddens me that very few people who profess to be "free" thinkers and politically independent can't see Obama and his idealogues for what they are.

Good for you Chris.
I myself realized recently how vicious and confrontational are a few Cable News are ALL OR MOST OF THE TIME. I quit watching them because they only upset me. I watch the more calm and direct reporting on other TV stations that are not vicious and constantly confrontational.

Also YouTube.com loves stupid, vicious, and confrontational Comments. Also to get Views I guess.

206173 "Both Presidents George Bush and Ronald Reagan gave speeches aimed specifically at students that were nationally televised. In 1989, Bush delivered a televised anti-drug speech, and Reagan's 1986 commencement speech and Q&A session was "beamed over public television into 171 school districts". And lets not forget Nancy Reagan's 'Just Say No' program, that included both a nationally televised speech, but also a nationwide campaign---complete with the DARE program, t-shirts, and class discussions on drugs, staying away from drugs, and how Mrs Reagan's speech affected/inspired us to not use drugs."
WHILE......

Reagan, Bush, and the CIA
WERE DEALING DRUGS WITH THE CONTRAS!

As the late Gary Webb documented in his Dark Alliance series (later expanded into a book), the Contras were involved in the spread of crack cocaine in America during the 1980's.

So I guess Ronnie and George 41 liked them for more than just their old-fashioned hatred of democracy and support for terrorist attacks on civilian populations AND SCHOOL CHILDREN!

Dude, it's sad. You make me sad, my empathy forces me to feel bad for you, does that register in your mind?

Nothing can be said beyond you are choosing to deny it all, it's a choice not to understand, even if you did it subconsciously, it is still a choice.

So stop blaming other people for your own issues ok?

I don't even blame you, you grew up in this system and now you're fighting to defend it, it's stockholm syndrome, it is there to protect you, I realize that. It is just if you want to interact with me and my site I can't help but tell you HONESTLY how I feel. Like I said it depresses me, I want people to be free and not to live a lie, I don't like watching people degrade themselves and be petty, everyone loses, myself included.

I wish I was reaching with it, it's about a thousand times worse when taken in its full context. This is just one extremely minute sliver of an entire society and manufactured culture which is based around human subjugation and control. It is an analysis of one petty speech by one petty dictator, it is not exactly groundbreaking, that calling a spade a spade would generate controversy is just a testament to how far our society and culture has fallen.

Does simply thinking something make it so? If you thought the moon was made of cheese, would that mean the moon became cheese as a result of your thought?

It wasn't "just a good speech encouraging people", it was a political speech propagandizing people. The point was to motivate you but you don't realize for what. You won't realize it until you actually realize the reason you're miserable is because you were taught you're not good enough "as is." They don't tell you why you're messed up though, they don't dare tell you about what made you the way you are. No, they just "look to the future" and "motivate you to be better than you are."

70178 i think everyone should take a moment and examine the comments from Chris. he hasn't actually said anything or made a single point.

it's certainly ok to attack public schools, but to stupidly try to say that obama's speech was indoctrination, or to say that its purpose is to keep the public school system intact does not make any sense.

the speech is promoting education in general, no matter where you go to school.

you might as well be asking for obama's birth certificate, chris

you might as well be saying "You betcha!"

now watch Chris delete this comment with the excuse of "excessively viscous"

clue for you, chris, your entire article is excessively viscous. and to call me names, like you did, is against your own rules

this site has become a joke lately

I don't think "this site" has become a joke.
The articles posted here are no joke. They are informative.
Its some of the "comments" here that are a joke.

Hey Cris.
You must, must see this video and hear what Zbigniew Brzezinski (I do believe a lot of people don't read NEWS because of such very diffiicult and annoying names LOL) says. It is very chilling and scarey.

67234 Obama's speech is propaganda from the schooling institution. Like I said in my previous post, it re-enforces the bureaucratic vigor among the school staff and reminds the students of the importance of the "great schooling institution" over their lives.

The problem is that there are some very famous and well known people that dropped out of school but yet managed their own lives quite well. There is a difference between schooling and education. Thomas Edison dropped out of elementary school. We wouldn't have the computer industry today if it weren't for drop outs. George Washington had almost no formal education and what he did learn he taught himself. Lincoln was the same.

You won't hear that publicized by the schooling institution or the President or anyone else from the establishment.

Did you know John D. Rockefeller was a dropout? How about Andrew Carnegie? That's right, both dropouts. They went on (through tax exempt foundations and the General Education Board as Chris quoted from) to make sure that everyone else had to go through through the school system that they knew bound them too tightly to be able to do what they wanted.

20314 We must pull all our children from this evil schooling system. Keep them at home, quit your jobs so you can school them in the way you want them to be.

Oh and don't forget to line their hats with aluminum foil so the government can't use their evil mind control on them anymore.

70178 chris, i have read the site and have visited it daily for i dont even know how long

but LATELY i've noticed all this conservative bullcrap appearing

and Old Thinker, it's true there are dropouts that have done just fine, as far as money is concerned. many of them continued their education (their learning) after they became successful.

but pointing out there are a handful of dropouts that are successful really doesn't show us anything, as there are huge numbers of dropouts who go nowhere.

if you work hard, education or not, you can succeed

yes of course there are problems with our public schools. they get worse every year. our society has been dumbed down by all kinds of groups to turn us into consumers and make us not question the government.

this anti-obama crowd is one of those groups who have dumbed our schools down.

the democrats, the republicans, the conservatives, the pro-lifers, the racists, the warmongers - all these people have manipulated our system for the worse

but this speech is not part of that plan. it's a simple speech, telling everyone to do better. and the world is laughing at the crazy people who take their kids out of school shouting "obama is immoral"

if JFK was alive today (and he was black) and he said ""Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country."

what do you think these crazy people would be saying?

yes we have a corrupt government, but that is the fault of the people. the people too fat and lazy and too stupid to do anything about it.

if these people feel so strongly that the only purpose of obama's speech is to make kids stupid and remain in a stupid public school system, then WHY do those same people have their kids in school in the first place?

seeing articles like this one makes it seem as if this site is being run by fox news

"There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution."
